The Channel Corridor Partnership

The CCP is well known and well respected, not only for its Economic Development work, but also its initiatives in Freight and Transport. In February 2008, the Freight Transport Association recognised this by short-listing the CCP as one of 9 regional partnerships for its first Freight Quality Partnership Award. Although the Award went to Tyne and Wear, the CCP were enormously proud to have been recognised by the Industry in this way.

In 2003 the South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA) declared the 3 Districts of Maidstone, Ashford and Shepway, a Priority Regeneration Area and agreed to fund the Channel Corridor Partnership. This resulted in the Channel Corridor area being identified as an Area Investment Framework (AIF) area, with SEEDA providing funding for the Partnership between 2004 and 2008. This funding has proved crucial as it provides the Partnership the scope to develop strategic work streams in the key areas of Business and Enterprise Development, Place-making, Investment Activity and Freight and Transport.

With the Board established and operating to a clear Governance Policy, the work of the Partnership is overseen by an independent Executive Chairman and dedicated Executive Team who undertake the day-to-day work of realising the Partnership's ambitions. This is described more clearly in the CCP's Annual Performance Plans and Forward Work Plan, which set out in more detail, the Partnership's objectives, its progress and achievements.
